Guide to the boutique winery of India – Soma Vine Village

Guide to the only boutique winery of India - Soma Vine VillageI am super delighted that I decided to visit here in the end moment. Just before leaving from home, I checked out the website of this winery of India, Soma Vine Village, and booked my stay in an instant.

Since, I had been to Napa and Sonoma valley, I was double excited to check out the vineyards of India.

The city of Nashik, situated in the Maharashtra state, is called the β€œWine Capital of India”. This boutique winery of India, Soma Vine Village, is onlyΒ 18 kms away from Nashik, where you can explore the vineyards, learn how they make their wines, taste the wines they produce and also relax at their marvellous resort.

Wine Tour & Tasting:

The tour commences every hour from 11:30 AM to 6:30 PM by a wine expert. He/she shows the vineyards and explains in brief the history and numbers behind Soma Wines. Later, there is a tour to the factory area where their exclusive wine is processed and stored. Finally, comes the wine tasting.

This boutique winery of India, Soma Vine Village, make wines for the European palate, Indian palate and some dessert wines. We tasted 2 white wines, a rosè wine, a red wine and a dessert wine.

Soma Vine Village also won an award at the Indian Wine Awards 2017 in the category of Best Indian Rose for their Rose Dessert Zinfandel 2016 and that was the one I liked the most as well. They has won several other awards which also includes a Decanter Asia Wine Award and two Indian Consumer Choice Awards.

Soma Vineyard Resort:

A splendid resort located alongside the backwaters of Gangapur Dam and surrounded by spectacular Sahyadri Ranges.

Starting off the stay with a welcome wine was the second impressive thing I found at the reception. First was the gorgeous wall arts. They beautifully embraced the walls all along the resort, which still keeps me praising the artists.

In this resort cum winery of India, Soma Vine Village, all the rooms are named after the wines. We had the Cabernet room for the night. The plush bed, opulent dressing and a palm plant next to the shower gave us a blissful stay experience. In addition to that was the view from the balcony, where I spent my most time while in the room. It rained continuously that day but I didn’t mind at all since it offered the most stunning views of the vineyard, mountains, pool and the palm trees.

The resort also comprises of luxurious pool villas, restaurants, conference halls, amphitheatre and an adventure sports park called the Zonkers.

Nilaya Spa:

If you want to soak yourself in a wine filled tub, set foot into this distinctive vino spa. A spa which consists of some unique therapies alongside of classic Swedish and Thai massages. The products they use in the spa are exclusively made from different wines. You can even opt for a Jacuzzi bath filled with Red Wine and rose petals. How exquisite does it sounds, isn’t it?

Since it was my birthday morning, I went for a Rose and Milk Maharani (Queen) Bath, followed by a wine foot massage. I can vouch for the products they use as it left my skin completely flawless, smooth and soft.

If you are into wines and visiting India, then this is the place you must not miss. As for Indians, this can be a captivating place to spend a luxurious, full-of-wine weekend.

I had an unforgettable time over here and I surely wish the same for you.

Also, if you are looking for any other wineries to visit nearby, you must check out Sula Vineyards as well. It is one of the fastest emerging wine company of India and very popular in abroad as well.

Okay, my glass of wine is waiting for me so I am going to sum it up here with a request to react and share the article. Also leave comments below and tell/ask anything you like/want.

Very nice- Forgive my ignorance but I didn’t have India as a wine producing company in my mind- although thinking about it Domain Chandon has opened a winery there recently too. I’d love to try Indian wine sometime as I’m sure it’s rich and flavorful like the food and culture!

Wow, I didn’t know that about Domain Chandon. Thanks for the info. Yes, India is still growing in that part, not much popular yet. I’ll be sure to get a bottle for you when we meet. πŸ™‚

I’m afraid I am also in the same boat as Shae. I had no idea there were wineries in India. I will be going to India later this year so I’m definitely going to add a wine tour to the list of things to do! It looks like you had an incredible time! Those photos make me want to visit ASAP.

I agree India is not as much a popular wine destination but it is an emerging zone. Make sure you visit the wineries during the monsoon, the views are amazing in that season. I’m glad you liked the post. πŸ™‚

This is wonderful. Visiting Soma has been high on my travel wishlist for a while now. Not only being an admirer of wine but also for a chance to experience staying among the vineyards has been really appealing. Thanks for the review because I was always curious how the whole stay would turn out to be.

The property looks really nice and I like how they have added colour and quirkiness with the help of art on the walls.

What a fun excursion! I’m a bit embarrased to admit that I had no idea there were wineries in India, I’m so glad to know that there are! This looks like an overall enjoyable experience, and I love that they also offer accommodation! I’d hope for the pinot noir room if there’s one available πŸ™‚ The spa looks incredible as well. Great post, I’m definitely pinning this for later πŸ™‚

Oh don’t worry it’s not much famous so rarely people would know about it. That’s why I wrote this article because I think it truly deserves attention. And, yeah, there was a Pinot Noir room, I saw one. Hope you get that one when you visit. πŸ™‚

Okay, so it was only recently I even came to know there were wineries in India. I worked in a South Indian restaurant here in Wales for 3 years and we sold Indian wine, but I didn’t ever think it was actually made in India! Of all the states as well, I don’t think I would have guessed Maharashtra to be the Wine Capital of India. I’ll definitely have to check this place out next time I visit the country!

Wow! My mom loves South Indian food since she spent her childhood in Kerala. Wine business is really growing in India and getting popular as well. When you check out the place, do let me know how you liked it? πŸ™‚
