This is my first hotel review on my blog and I am doing it for one of my most favourite hotels in the world. Read further and find out that why do I say, “When in Oslo, City Box”.
Our Scandinavian trip plan was quiet in a rush. One day prior to our flight, my sister and I were booking our stay everywhere and packing bags at the same time. While looking for hotels in Oslo, we only had two things in mind; one that it should be closer to the central station and second it should be cheap. City box Oslo satisfied both of our needs and the pictures looked amazing so we booked our rooms in a jiffy, never knowing that it will become my favourite hotel experience worldwide.
It is literally a casual yet modern chic box which works on its own. A hotel which you can turn it up into a hostel and without any interference, it really feels like having your own home in Norway.
Once you enter, three self check-in kiosks awaits you from where you pay and get your key card which will be your bff until your stay. That friend of yours will let you enter the hotel, elevator and your room eventually.
The best thing is there is no reception desk and that gives a hostel kind of feeling but then the contemporary seating area makes you feel like you are entering your own living room. You can casually sit, wait or have a meet-up over there.
This guy called Mr. Box pops out from a rectangular screen and is out there to help you with everything about City Box and Oslo. Want an extra towel? Or a wifi password? He is there to help you. And even if that virtual man is not enough for you, and you want someone real to answer your questions, you can tell that to Mr. Box and some one from the back office immediately appears to reply you anything sweetly. The staff team let you be yourself in your comfort zones but are active and on their feet at the same time.
There is also a mini library, a small kitchen to make your own coffee, a vending machine, dining tables, internet area, conference room and also a meeting room. Everything is organized and furnished in such a contemporary Nordic concept. There is a cafe where they serve breakfast in the morning but that is an extra pay. In addition to that, you can also order other eatables till midnight.
Now, the rooms. Very comfortable beds, to-the-point bathrooms, huge windows and a full length mirror. What else do you need in a hotel room? I’m a bed and breakfast kind of person while exploring a new city. That’s why City Box served me best what I needed.
City Box gives this special offer to their every guest. They have this special city box luggage tag which you have to take a picture of in an inovative way, post it on Instagram and they choose a lucky winner of the month who either gets a one night refund or a night free for next stay. Isn’t that fantastic? 😍
P.S. My sister won that month we went and we got one night refund from City Box Oslo. 🤗
How kind! That marketing skill was spot on and very generous. They know how to treat their customers exceptionally well and that’s why they deserve to be reviewed on Traveller By Birth.
Another Bonus Tip:
To get a very good price for the room, book directly from their website. 👌🏼👌🏼
